What can you expect if you choose to sign up for a research study?

In this video, our team takes you inside one of our clinical research units at Howard University, offering a step-by-step look at what a participant can expect during a study visit. You’ll also get a tour of the research unit itself, so you can see where visits take place. If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about participating in one of our studies, we’d be happy to hear from you.

What is ResearchMatch?

Many people are interested in participating in research but do not know how to find studies that are right for them. ResearchMatch is a nonprofit recruitment registry that connects individuals and researchers interested in participating in research studies.

Who can join ResearchMatch?

Anyone in the U.S., including Puerto Rico, can join ResearchMatch as a volunteer, regardless of age, ethnicity, or health. Those under 18 or needing help may register through a guardian. Some studies seek people with specific health conditions, while many also need healthy volunteers of all ages.

How can I join ResearchMatch?

Visit ResearchMatch.org to join and create a volunteer profile.

Next, respond to a few questions about yourself, including your background and medical history. You can share as much or as little information as you would like. The online registration takes 5-10 minutes to complete. ResearchMatch is free for everyone!

Is ResearchMatch only for clinical trials?

No, ResearchMatch helps match many different types of studies that are looking for participants. You may be contacted about research opportunities ranging from a survey you can do at home to a clinical trial that may involve traveling to a researcher’s institution.
